Community Involvement
At Alphapharm, one of our core values is that we take care of people. That includes our staff and our customers. We also help people in our local community and in the broader global community.
Alphapharm is driven by both the privilege and obligation of contributing to the communities we are a part of. We are committed to supporting education and training of students and professionals, fostering medical and pharmaceutical research, providing community awareness programs and sponsoring different forms of help to those in special need, including donations of medicines around the world for humanitarian purposes.

JavaScriptWhen adversity strikes and there is need for medicines, Alphapharm is a willing contributor. Alphapharm makes various donations of medicines to orphanages, medical clinics, medical missions and health services in Ethiopia, East Timor, India, Banda Aceh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines North Korea and Australia.
Alphapharm has an ongoing commitment to support the highly valued work carried out by the House With No Steps. Alphapharm has provided a purpose fit-out, wheelchair accessible, 16-seater bus that enables patrons of House With No Steps to be transported for work and recreational purposes.
Alphapharm is involved in initiatives with the NHF to support Cardiovascular Research and raise awareness of cardiac disease. We co-sponsor a Cardiac Nursing PhD with the NHF, and are involved in programs to promote the Quality Use of Medicines for treating these conditions.
Alphapharm is proud to be the sponsor of the CARDIAC-ARIA study. The study is a collaboration between the NHF and three leading Australian universities. The study is aimed at examining the current and future need for, and accessibility to, cardiovascular services in Australia relative to the distribution of individuals who currently have symptomatic cardiovascular disease.
In 2005, Alphapharm organised the first national educational conference for specialist heart failure nurses. Since then the specialist heart failure nurses have expanded and set up their own organisation, the Australasian College of Cardiovascular Nursing (ACNC). Alphapharm is proud to continue to be involved with this organisation, and remains the primary sponsor.
This IDI (International Diabetes Institute) national, community-based study is sponsored jointly by Alphapharm. The aim is to increase the understanding of the prevalence and incidence of diabetes and related conditions in Australia.
Alphapharm supports the patient education services of Diabetes Australia aimed at better empowering diabetic patients to improve the management of their condition. Alphapharm also sponsors the Diabetes Management in General Practice Book published by Diabetes Australia in conjunction with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. This annual publication updates best practice principles for diabetes care.
One of the ways Alphapharm's commitment to continuing professional education is demonstrated is by its platinum sponsorship of the Pharmacy Guild's 'Quality Care Pharmacy Program'. We are also a major sponsor of the 'Australian Pharmacy Professional' conference.
Alphapharm sponsors the Pharmacy Student of the Year competition run by the PSA each year, to find the pharmacy student most gifted and competent at counseling patients about their medicines. Alphapharm's sponsorship of the event reflects our commitment to nurturing the next generation of pharmacists, with particular emphasis on the importance of them being an information conduit to the community.
